Barbies
When I was a little girl, I always asked my parents for a Barbie doll, but I never got one. Every holiday and birthday I would ask for one, yet, still no Barbie. Many years later, I finally asked my Mum, why I never got a Barbie doll and to my surprise, her ansewer was that she was afraid that I might ask questions about the “bumps”! Not too long after that I saw a TV special on dolls and thought to myself, “hey, I’m an adult, now I can buy my own Barbie dolls! And so it began. I baught everything in sight, from vintage to special editions to whatever tickled my fancy. Then some years later, I took a good look at my surroundings and realized that Barbie was beginning to dominate the decor in my house, which I thought was quite inconsiderate to the rest of my family, who incidentally have always been supportive of my obsessions, so I decided to specialize. Most of the pink boxes went to auction or were sold privately and so were all of Barbies friends, save Ken of course. Others were put away in boxes to be taken out and looked or played with as I pleased. The dolls that stayed up for display were mostly my vintage collection.
